This overview reveals all the features and functionalities of the JetReviews dashboard in great detail.
JetReviews is a plugin designed to create and manage review sections that are convenient for site administrators and visitors. Whether one is displaying pre-existing reviews or enabling users to submit their feedback, the plugin provides all the necessary tools for implementation.
Once the JetReviews plugin is installed and activated, a new submenu will appear on the WordPress dashboard. The following sections provide a detailed overview of each available tab.
JetReviews Stats
The first tab of the JetReviews dashboard displays review statistics, providing useful insights for analytics and monitoring user activity on the website.
General Reviews Stats are displayed at the top of the web page, so that will be the first thing you see after opening this tab. It shows in numbers how many users left reviews and comments, how many of them are already approved, and how many are waiting for approval. The graphic illustrates that stats better, taking into account the period they were added. The diagram clearly displays the data about the rates of added reviews.
The General Reviews Stats section is located at the top of the page. It displays numerical data on the total number of reviews and comments submitted by users, including how many have been approved and how many are pending approval. A graphical representation provides a visual summary of these statistics over a selected period, with a diagram illustrating the distribution and frequency of submitted review ratings.
The Post Types Reviews Stats section presents the same review data, segmented by post type. It allows for more detailed analysis of user activity across specific content types on the website.
All Reviews
The “Export” and “Import” buttons are located at the top and allow one to export existing reviews or import new ones, using a CSV format.
After pressing the “Export” button, the Export Reviews pop-up window appears. In this window, one can select the Source — either “Post” or “User”. Based on the selected source, the Source Type dropdown will adjust accordingly: for “Post”, it displays available post types; for “User”, it lists user roles (e.g., “WP User”).
After pressing the “Import” button, the Import Reviews pop-up window appears. Here, the SVG file with reviews can be uploaded.
The Bulk Actions dropdown is located under the buttons and enables performing actions (e.g., “Unapprove”, “Approve,” “Delete”) on multiple selected reviews at once.
The Search reviews bar helps find specific reviews based on keywords.
Visitor-submitted reviews are stored in a table format. Each entry displays the review author’s name and email, review title and text, average rating, associated post, and submission date.
The table also includes action buttons for managing individual reviews:
- Approve – clicking this button allows the review to be shown on the website;
- Unapprove – with this button, the already published review can be hidden;
- Edit – this button gives access to the review’s summary title and description, which can be altered. Also, if users are able to attach media files to the review, they can be deleted here. Such availability can be set during the review type creation;
- Delete – a button that deletes the review.
Review Types
JetReviews enables the creation of multiple review types tailored to different content and use cases. By clicking the “Add New Type” button, you can define custom review types with specific criteria. This is especially useful if your website includes multiple custom post types, as each may require distinct review structures. Within this tab, you can create, manage, edit, and delete review types as needed.
The General Settings section lists such options:
- Name — a field for the unique review type name;
- Slug — a field for the review type slug. After filling in the Name field, the slug will be added automatically. If changed, it should contain only letters, numbers, and `-` or `_` characters;
- Source — allows to select the “Post” or “User” review source;
- Source Type — if the “Post” option is selected, the required post type can be chosen from this dropdown. If the “User” option is selected, one can pick the “WP User” or “Guest” option.
The Advanced Settings section contains such options:
- Review Fields — here, the review fields can be added by pressing the “Add New Field” button. It adds a repeater item with Label, Step, and Max Value fields to create and customize rating fields;
- Allowed roles — a dropdown that defines which user roles are allowed to leave reviews;
Things to know
The “Guest” users can also leave reviews. In this case, two required fields, “Name” and “Email,” will be added to the review form. The guest’s data will be stored in a separate table and will be auto-filled for subsequent submissions, improving user experience while helping to prevent spam.
- Review author verification — a dropdown that sets who can submit a verified review. The available options are:
- Guest User — allows anyone (even those not logged in) to leave reviews;
- Woo Product Customer — only users who have purchased the product through WooCommerce can leave a review;
- Shop Manager — only users with the “Shop manager” role can submit reviews.
- Comment author verification — a dropdown that sets who can submit a verified comment;
- New review approval — if a toggle is enabled, admin approval is required for each new review;
Things to know
Be aware that the JetReviews plugin is not compatible with popular anti-spam plugins. If you choose to turn the New review approval toggle off, the anti-spam plugins won’t be able to track and delete spam reviews or comments.
- Allow comments — if enabled, it allows users to comment on reviews;
- New review comments need approval — if enabled, admin approval is required for new review comments;
- Allow review rate actions — enables like/dislike ratings for reviews;
- Upload media — if enabled, it allows uploading media files for review. It activates such options:
- Allowed media — a dropdown that specifies which file formats are allowed for upload;
- Max upload file size(MB) — a field that sets the maximum size for each uploaded file. The default limit is “5” MB.
The Post Metadata section lists such options:
- Use post metadata — if enabled, this toggle allows JetReviews to store average review data as post meta (custom fields). It activates such settings:
- Average rating metadata key — a field that defines the meta key (“_jet_reviews_average_rating”), which will store the average post rating;
- Post meta ratio bound — a field that sets the ratio conversion limit that will be saved in the post metadata;
- Sync average rating — contains the “Sync rating data” button, clicking which will update the post metadata with the latest average rating from JetReviews.
Things to know
The Structure Data section contains the Use Structure Data toggle, which, if enabled, activates the Type dropdown, which allows selecting the appropriate schema type for rendering structured data in JSON-LD format, which helps improve SEO and enables rich snippets in search engine results.
Comments
This tab closely resembles the All Reviews section, but instead displays user comments. All entries are organized in a table showing the comment text, the associated post, the submission date, and available actions. Each comment can be approved, unapproved, edited, or deleted using the corresponding action buttons.
Settings
Clicking on this tab redirects one to the WordPress Dashboard > Crocoblock > JetPlugins Settings > JetReviews tab that contains such subsections: Post & User Source, Integrations, Advanced, and WooCommerce.
Settings from Post & User Source were transferred to WordPress Dashboard > JetReviews > All Reviews.
The Integrations subsection allows activating reCAPTCHA v3 form verification for the website. The Site Key and Secret Key can be set here.
The Advanced subsection tab contains such options:
- Enable disallowed content checking — enables automatic checking of reviews and comments for specific disallowed words. If activated, it adds such an option:
- Disallowed words — a bar for the comma-separated list of keywords. If any of these appear in a review or comment, the content will be marked as unapproved. More details can be found in the How to Enable Content Keywords Moderation in Reviews and Comments tutorial.
- New review notify — sends an email notification to the admin every time a review is submitted. If activated, it adds such options:
- Review approve needed notify — sends an email only if a review requires manual approval (e.g., it was flagged for disallowed content or moderation rules);
- Post author notify — sends a notification email to the author of the post (e.g., product or article owner) when someone submits a review.
- New comment notify — sends an email to the admin whenever a new comment is submitted through JetReviews. If activated, it adds such an option:
- Comment approve needed notify — sends an email only if a comment requires approval before being published.
More details are described in the How to Send Email Notification of the New Submitted Review and Comment tutorial.
The WooCommerce subsection contains the Import products reviews option. This settings tab will appear only if the WooCommerce plugin is installed and activated. The reviews will be imported from the WordPress Dashboard > WooCommerce > Products > Reviews tab to the WordPress Dashboard > JetReviews > All Reviews tab. One can select specific products from the dropdown menu or choose “All” to import reviews for every product.
That’s all about the JetReviews dashboard. Now you know how to manage, display, and customize user reviews on your WordPress site with precision.
