Posts Widget Overview

The settings and options of the Posts widget of the JetElements plugin that can be used to showcase posts, pages, CPTs as a posts carousel, posts slider, or posts grid, and more are detailed.

The Posts widget by the JetElements plugin is intended to display any posts as a posts carousel, posts slider, or posts grid.

Inserting the Posts Widget

The Posts widget can be added to any page as an Elementor widget by searching for it in the search bar and then dragging and dropping it onto the page.

After that, the widget settings will be unrolled. Like any widget for Elementor, the widget has three setting tabs: Content, Style, and Advanced. In turn, the Content settings tab has the General, Carousel, and Custom Fields settings.

Once the widget is added, the General settings of the Content tab are unrolled by default, and previously created WordPress posts will be shown.

General Settings

The General settings are presented by the following fields:

• Posts Number 一 a drop-down to select how many posts are visible at once;
• Columns 一 a drop-down to set the needed number of posts in the grid layout (ranges from “1” to “6”);
• Equal Columns Height 一 a toggle to set the same height of all columns;
• Is Archive Template 一 a toggle to make the post block to be visible on an archive template;
• Post Type 一一 a drop-down to specify the needed items to be displayed via the widget, e.g., “Posts,” “Pages,” “Forms,” “Products,” and others if specific plugins are installed and activated;
• Query posts by 一 a drop-down to choose a specific category of posts to be shown, and has the following options:
  • Latest Posts 一 to display posts starting from the latest ones;
  • From category (for Posts only)  一 to activate the Category drop-down list to specify the needed category;
  • By Specific IDs 一 to activate the Set comma separated IDs list (10, 22, 19 etc.) text field to insert the needed post IDs;
  • Related to current 一 to enable the Query related by drop-down list and select and displaying the needed “Taxonomy” or “Keyword”, correspondingly;
• Posts Offset 一 a text field to enter the number of posts that will be “skipped” from showing in the grid or slider;
• Use Custom Query 一 a toggle to turn on the Set custom query text field to generate a custom query. More details can be found in the How to Use WP Query Generator to Query the Posts tutorial;
• Show Posts Title 一 a toggle to show or hide the post’s title. If enabled, it activates the Title HTML Tag drop-down list to select the needed  heading level of the title;
• Title Word Trim 一 a toggle to set uniform post title length using the Title Length drop-down and Title Trimmed Ending text field to insert the post title ending;
• Show Posts Featured Image 一 a toggle to display the post featured image. If enabled, it turns on the Show Featured Image As drop-down that has two options:
  • Simple Image 一 activates the Featured Image Size drop-down list to select the needed size (e.g., “Full,” “Thumbnail,” “Medium” and more), the Image Ratio slider to change the image ratio (image height) in the post carousel to align the featured images with each other, and the Image Fit drop-down list to specify if the image should be inscribed or described into the “Default,” “Contain,” or “Cover”.
  • Box Background 一 activates  Featured Image Size drop-down list to select the needed size (e.g., “Full,” “Thumbnail,” “Medium” and more), the Image Fit drop-down list to specify if the image should be inscribed or described into the “Contain” or “Cover”, and the Background Image Position drop-down list to place the image;
• Show Posts Excerpt 一 a toggle that, if activated, to display the post excerpts and turns on the Excerpt Length text field to insert the needed length (the “-1” should be typed to display the entire excerpt with allowed HTML tags);
• Show Post Terms 一 a toggle that, if activated, allows showing required terms and enables the Show Terms From drop-down list to set the needed “Categories,” “Tags,” “Formats,” “Product categories,”, etc., and the Max Terms to Show drop-down field to select the required number of the corresponding items;
• Show Posts Meta, Show Posts Author, Show Posts Date, Show Posts Modified Date, Show Posts Comments, and Show Read More Button 一 toggles that allow showing the corresponding settings;
• Open Post in a New Tab 一 a toggle to open the post in a new tab;
• Read More Button Text 一 a text field displayed if the Show Read More Button toggle is activated, that allows entering text on the “Read More” button;
• Read More Button Icon 一 a field to select the icon of the corresponding button. The field is displayed if the Show Read More Button toggle is activated;
• Add gap between columns and Add gap between rows 一 toggles to add gaps between columns and rows, correspondingly.

Carousel Settings

These settings are designed to configure the common features of displaying posts in the carousel view. They are:

• Enable Carousel 一 a toggle that transforms the grid into a carousel;
• Slides minimal height 一 a field that sets the same height for all the slides;
• Sliders to Scroll 一 a drop-down list to select the needed number slider to show;
• Show Arrows Navigation 一 a field that allows selection arrows will be displayed on different sides of the slider in the Prev Arrow Icon and Next Arrow Icon fields;
• Show Dots Navigation 一 a field to select the dots that will be displayed below the slider;
• Pause on Hover 一 a toggle that allows the slider movement to be stopped when users hover a pointer over it;
• Autoplay 一 a toggle that allows the slider to be moved automatically, without the user doing anything;
• Autoplay Speed 一 a field to set the autoplay speed in ms;
• Infinite Loop 一 a toggle that allows the slider not to move backwards when it reaches the last post but continues to move in the same direction, starting with the first post in the line;
• Animation Speed 一 a field to set the slider movement speed.

Custom Fields Settings

The section is presented by the following settings:

• Show Meta Before/After Title and Show Meta Before/After Content 一 toggles to display the meta fields;
• Meta Field Position 一 a drop-down list to set the metafield “Before” or “After” the title and/or content;
• +Add Item 一 a button to set the needed meta field;

Style Settings

These settings are intended to design the options of the Posts widget. Here, the Typography, Background, Text and Icon Color, Padding, Margin, Border Type, Width, and more can be set.

Advanced Settings

The Advanced settings depend on the installed and activated plugins (such as JetPopup,) and allow the customization: 

• Layout (Margin, Padding, Width, Position, Z-Index, CSS ID, CSS Class);
• Dynamic Visibility toggle;
• Motion Effects, Transform, Background, Responsive (desktop, tablet, mobile), Attributes, and Custom CSS.
